| Dan joined Burgess Hill Albion Football Club in 1996 when they first formed. He played in more than 112 games playing leftwing in midfield, his first competitive goal came on 19/10/96 v Latter Day Saints in the Crawley & District Football League. Dan unfortunately was forced to retire due to rupturing his cruciate ligament and was out the game for around 4 years. He then returned to the club for the 2000/01 season to try and rekindle his career as a player but never really had the same desire. Being a Albion Clubman he turned his skills to managing and became Burgess Hill Albion Reserve team manager which proved to be a massive turning point in the clubs history. Dan is the most successful manager the club has had to date, he has been recognised for that in receiving "Clubman of the Year" in 2005/06, leading the Reserves to 4 successive promotions 3 as Champions, he has 2 Runners up League medals, 3 Championship League medals. Dan's main achievement was leading the Reserve team to their first Cup Final but Burgess Hill Albion's first ever cup final, The Malins Challenge Cup. Dan said "He was very happy with his achievements, I had such a good bunch of lads who were prepared to play for each other" His contributions to the club have been immense not just as a player but also as a manager and that is why Dan Mummery is being announced as one of Albion's Greatest Managers. |
